Hi, I’m Samie

Leading students on a grounded and poetic exploration of yoga is what I am passionate about. I encourage those on the mat to unravel their many layers and explore all parts of themselves from a lens of self-compassion, generosity and curiosity.

Following the path of yoga has taught me that the biggest gift is self-awareness, to revel and play in the experience of being alive, and to tap into the innate wisdom that exists within.

I’m passionate about turning to ritual, prayer, and meditation as communion with the Divine. Believing in the simple being sacred and my work being dedicated to the magic of present moment awareness.

I look to nature as a guiding teacher, for deep nourishment, and as a potent reminder that we are not separate from the earth, but intimately woven into its creation.
Honouring nature, the elements and the seasons, I create classes and workshops that weave the wisdom of the natural world, with yoga, ayurveda, rituals and self-enquiry as a path to discovering the true self.

My teaching style is deeply feminine in energy, exploring the creative expression of the body through gentle hatha slow flow and yin yoga practices fused with pranayama (breathwork) and lots of meditation.

My intention is to guide students towards greater self-awareness and connection to their intuitive wisdom, to allow their minds and bodies to embrace moments of stillness and sink into rest and digest.

I share the spiritual teachings, as well as the practical tools of yoga, to support everyone to return home to themselves, to find balance and sparks of magic that continue to unfold off the mat.

I never take it lightly that I get the absolute honour of serving my community in this way, so thank you. It is such a privilege.

Some extras about me:

-  I’ve been with the practice of yoga (learning and teaching) for over a decade, observing my practice evolve from a strong and disciplined ashtanga practice in my 20’s to a soft and feminine yin and restorative practice in my late 30’s.

-  Being on the mat daily used to be my non-negotiable, but now yoga ‘off the mat’ is my daily practice!

- I teach an array of styles: ashtanga, hatha, yin, slow flow, prenatal and mums and bubs.

I am passionate about making the practices accessible for all bodies and ranges of movement.

-I firmly believe in the linages of yoga and teaching as close to lineage as possible. I am deeply humbled to have studied with 3 incredible teachers (Gregor Maehle, Monica Gauci, and Mardi Bell) who were taught ashtanga yoga in Mysore with Sri K Pattabhi Jois.

- Creative expression through movement has been my passion since I was 4 years old. I spent my childhood and teen years dedicated to every type of dance, especially ballet.

- As a multi-faceted spiritual being with my heart open, I pray in the catholic church, bow down to mother Gaia, chant to Krishna, and believe in feeling the sacred in everything.

-I studied prenatal yoga with the gorgeous Katie Rose (Bhakti Rose) at Krishna Village and love being able to support mums with practices their whole journey to birth and postpartum.
